The Bernie Petteway Trio gets a new look and a new sound for this Thursday's gig at the General Store Cafe in Pittsboro. Sadly, Ed Butler can't be with us this time but we're making up for his smile and great playing with not one, but two of the area's most loved percussionists: Beverly Botsford and Sara Romweber.
Plus, the GSC's new music room is a treat for both performers and listeners alike, and the food just gets better every time I go there. Come on out Thursday, June 5, starting at 8:00 pm. There's no cover charge but we do rely on the generosity of your tips!

After a long hiatus the Bernie Petteway Trio is playing tonight in Pittsboro.

That would be Bernie Petteway on guitar, Ed Butler on drums, and, well, the ugly guy on bass. We'll be at the Pittsboro General Store Cafe in their brand new music room which folks are saying sounds great.
We haven't played in several months so it could be a little wild - some of that "wow, it's really fun to be playing together again" energy. Come on out. The food is good, some nice wines, check out the new space, give us some feedback!
Start time - 8:30

There is a slight change for this Thursday's Bernie Petteway Trio performance at the General Store Cafe in Pittsboro. Due to a recent death in his family Bernie's taking a much needed break this week and jazz pianist/vocalist Steve Wing will be taking his place playing with me and Ed Butler. If you haven't heard Steve you're missing a big treat. He comes out of the New Orleans tradition and was heavily influenced by the Triangle's Brother Yusef. He brings great energy and enthusiasm to the music and is always great fun to play with. I'm sure we can get him to sing some of the late Bus Brown's songbook so be sure to come out for that.

Pardon the temporary new look. I have been using Randy Carver's "Rocky Mountain Sunrise" template (modified to show our own Eno River) for quite some time. If you've been using Firefox (which you should) you would have seen the semi-transparent panes with the Eno River image in the background. That "other" browser (IE) wouldn't show the transparency so the effect was lost. But the template had other problems which I thought I would get around to fixing but that involves teaching myself CSS among other things and I just haven't had the time. So - various aspects of this site have not been displaying properly in ANY browser. I've changed over to one of Netshine's more business-like templates simply because it works and it's uncluttered. Eventually I'll get back to the more "artsy" look.
