This Video has been around for a while but I just saw it for the first time. Cellist, composer, and all-around very interesting person Ethan Winer put together a one-man band to beat all. So who was here first - Ethan or Apocalyptica? Really - this cello video made me laugh and want to have some fun doing this myself (just for my own personal enjoyment). Ethan's website is full of useful information for cellists but his server was overloaded with so many people viewing the video so the video link goes to Youtube.
Google Maps Oh, I like this! Double click your area on the map to center it and then zoom about halfway in, recenter to find your area and zoom on in. You can drag the map to follow roads and find exactly what you're looking for. Search for anything in the text box and it shows up on the map. I love maps. I hate mapquest. I love this!
I like supporting local business and products and especially when it comes to food. I think "eating locally" makes sound environmental sense. So I was happy to read in the Independent (our local weekly) about Tempeh Girl tempeh - made in Hillsborough just up the road from me.
I don't know how I missed this 1995 film the first time around. It's amazingly beautiful to watch and to listen to. If you love Purcell and if you love viola da gamba playing you'll get a bit of history and a great storyline with your music fix. A play within a play. See the IMDB for details. Highly recommended. I'll never hear "The Fairy-Queen" the same way again.
This item is old - I believe from 1977. It's a spoof commercial originally made by Robert Conrad. More info on the original post can be found here. So take a listen - it's dated but funny.
Beautiful cello and piano music by G.I. Gurdjieff (Meetings with Remarkable Men), and V. Tsabropoulos. Gurdjieff, Tsabropoulos: Chants, Hymns and Dances (from the ECM "New Series") is meditative, sad, playful, and sometimes brooding. I put this on when things have gotten too hectic and I'm not paying attention to what's important.
