Robert Cantrell is a Chapel Hill based percussionist who plays a variety of Cuban and Brasilian instruments in addition to drum kit. Currently a member of the Tim Smith Band, Cyril Lance’s Arkestra, Hobex, and Mary Johnson Rockers and the Spark, he also performs in creative projects with Joshua Starmer, Samba Jovem and Pablo Valencia. In particular, Robert enjoys finding the intersections of Afro Caribbean and American Pop music and exploring how each informs the other.
