Ed Butler – Drums

Ed ButlerSince his arrival to North Carolina in 1982, Ed Butler has been an integral part of the artistic community.  He has drawn from the variety of art and music found in the Triangle due largely from the ethnic and cultural diversity found here.  He has performed in an assortment of venues both across the United States and throughout Europe and Northern Africa.

He has performed with The North Carolina Symphony, The North Carolina Ballet, The Red Clay Ramblers, Michelle Shocked, Pop Staples, and many others; as well as appearing on “A Prairie Home Companion”.  Ed has also composed and performed music for Chapel Hill’s Playmakers Repertory Company and Jelly Educational Theatre.

Ed is currently performing with Contrazz, a contra dance ensemble, Sidecar Social Club, a five piece “jazz” unit that runs the gambit from A-Z, and Hindugrass, a sarod lead combo that combines Hindustani ragas with the sounds of traditional Apalachian and old-time music.
