Just in Time is a new jazz quartet playing standards, surprises, and some completely improvised songs.
Greg Hohn has been singing with Triangle Jazz Orchestra since 2010 and has also worked with other smaller jazz groups. He and Glenn Mehrbach have been collaborating in one form or another since the last millennium. Much of Greg’s singing has been in musical theater, both improvised and scripted. He is the director of Actors Improv Theater, of which he’s been a member since 1989.
Bassist Robbie Link has performed in symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, big bands, and small jazz ensembles, rock, Latin, and folk groups, both American and international. He’s done hundreds of recording sessions, hosted and performed in several jazz series, accompanied singers of all kinds, and taught students of all ages (including at Duke, East Carolina, and UNC-Chapel Hill) and is active in the HIP (historically informed performance) movement playing viola da gamba and violone.
Glenn Mehrbach has been Music Director at the Community Church of Chapel Hill, Unitarian Universalist since 2003, and Staff Associate in music, dance and theatre at Duke University. Glenn also had a 20 year career traveling internationally as musical director, arranger, conductor and pianist for cabaret chanteuse Andrea Marcovicci. He served as pianist and arranger for Carolina Ballet, and musical director for countless cabaret and theater productions in the Los Angeles and central North Carolina area, as well as pianist and musical director for Actors Improv Theater.
Drummer Todd Proctor (sitting in with JIT on May 12) is an artist and educator who has played with a stunning array of famous musicians. He has played in over a dozen musicals, with several symphonies, in big band jazz ensembles, with several salsa bands, in numerous versions of pop rock/dance/R&B/funk and soul groups, and on dozens of albums.
