EL FUEGO Early Music Ensemble presents “The last Conquistador” (The last Conqueror): narrative, music, poetry and art from Spain’s Golden Age and New Spain colonies (Today’s Mexico and New Mexico), surrounding the time of Juan de Oñate y Salazar (1550–1626). Salomé Sandoval, voice, vihuela, baroque guitar and artistic direction; Roman Testroet, voice; Molly Barnes, and Sarah Lodico Wines viols; Charles Wines, winds; Laura Grimaldi, percussion. Special guest performer: Robbie Link, bass viol.

This October, explore the world of Juan de Oñate with us: visionary or mass murderer? Sacred and Secular Polyphony by Gaspar Fernandes, Romances by Lope de Vega and the following traditions in Liturgical and Secular plays. Are you up for an adventure?
